The current Mac Pro which was launched in 2013 does not have user replaceable video cards either, nor for that matter does any current Mac.

As it is part of the main logic board you do not have a choice of the make and model, such a choice is only possible with desktop computers which have slots such as the old discontinued Mac Pro which was sold in various versions from 2006 to 2012. The video 'card' in both cases is a chip permanently attached to the main logic board, the only way to replace it is to replace the entire main logic board. The 2011 MacBook Pro is a completely different design to the MacBook Pro Retina 2014 model. I suggest doing a web search for External Mac GPU and contacting the companies directly and see if this solution is viable while Apple continues to equip their laptop performance with comparable cards offered web notebooks at a fraction of a the cost but continuing to include the brand "Pro" in the name. it's cooling is external and not subject to the internal system. Secondly an external GPU would blow the ph***ing doors off the GPU apple offers at present highest end laptop.

While this is not supported by Apple it could be far more cost effective than having your Logic Board replaced since for quality assurance Apple solders parts to their Logic Boards so an identifiable inexpensive part will include the cost of the entire board just incase you needed that replaced too, or not it's not an option. My knowledge of this has never been applied but if the GP in the mac has failed and the system is out of warranty you may be able to run an external GPU/chassis from the thunderbolt port. I would appreciate any recommendations and links! Obviously, i do not want to use the same type again - guess I do not have to explain how I am after having twice the same problem within two years after buying a brand new MacBook Pro.

What graphic card would you recommend? How much is such a graphic card? Where could I buy a cheap one?.After doing some research, i found out that Apple used to have these problems with the 2011 editions. My model (1502) apparently only has a single integrated graphics processor. At least, I am able to access my documents by connecting two Macs, so I do hope that hardware is not affected. Unfortunately, I do not have a warranty anymore. Again, the mac was working perfectly fine (no overheating noise, nothing) and just suddenly - without any comprehensible reason or external action, the graphic card failed. Only a few months later, the graphic card failed - without any obvious reason. Late 2014, I purchased a new 13-Inch Retina Display MacBook Pro mid 2014 model (A1502, EMC2875).
